CLOT x adidas Originals "Mundial Collection"
Edison Chen has never made a collaboration that just sits on the surface. The CLOT x adidas Originals Mundial Collection arrives as a pre-celebration of the 2026 World Cup built on the belief that football has always been bigger than the sport — that the pitch, the terrace, and the street have been the same conversation conducted in different registers, and that the right materials and the right creative voice can make that connection visible in an object you can hold. This is Edison Chen's East-meets-West design philosophy applied to the adidas football archive, and the result is one of the most texturally considered collaborations either party has produced.
The hero silhouette is the CLOT Mundial — the adidas Copa Mundial, one of the most storied football boots ever made, pulled entirely off the pitch and rebuilt for the street through a series of material decisions that change everything about how it reads and nothing about what makes it significant. A black premium leather upper develops patina with wear the way football boots never get the chance to — the material choice that separates a shoe built for use from one built for a single season. Cream raffia Three Stripes run down the lateral side where the classic Copa's stripes have always lived, the natural, woven texture sitting in productive contrast against the leather above it and the espadrille sole below — a traditional Chinese slipper construction that connects CLOT's cultural origins to the global sport the collection celebrates. CLOT logos stitch across the toe box in the curved pattern that echoes the Mundial's semi-circle stitching, the collaboration's mark occupying the position of an existing design detail rather than overwriting it. The CLOT Samba answers with inverted logic — a white Samba Millennium upper, suede toe cap, and the same raffia construction underfoot, the familiar terrace silhouette recontextualized through the same material language as its pack partner. Together the two shoes cover both ends of the adidas football archive in a consistent aesthetic that rewards the close look and earns the distance view.
The apparel capsule builds the world around the footwear — Teamgeist-inspired knit jerseys drawn from tournament football's most recognizable era, a Baja Hoodie and Heritage Print Short that carry the collection's material and graphic sensibility into the lifestyle wardrobe, a Refined Utility Shirt and Bandana Slider completing an eleven-piece lineup that dresses head to foot in the language of a designer who understands that football culture has always been a fashion culture, whether the stadiums admitted it or not. An anime campaign directed by Annie Choi brings Raphinha and Luis Díaz into the visual world alongside nods to the official adidas Trionda match ball — the beautiful game rendered in animation, worn by the players who will be on the pitch this summer while the shoes carry the conversation off of it. Available May 2nd via CONFIRMED, adidas.com, and select retailers. The World Cup comes to North America. CLOT dressed it for arrival.
