Joe Freshgoods x New Balance ABZORB 1890 "Music Video Pack"

Flashing lights. Chrome everything. The Joe Freshgoods x New Balance ABZORB 1890 "Music Video Pack" arrives as the 12th collaboration between Chicago's most cinematic creative voice and the brand he helped introduce to a generation that had not yet discovered what New Balance could mean. This is not a sneaker drop. It is a scene — two scenes, actually — each colorway a distinct mood pulled from the era of late-90s rap and R&B videos that Joe Robinson watched as a kid and has spent his entire career channeling into objects the culture can wear. Busta Rhymes. Janet Jackson. Missy Elliott. The videos that did not make sense and did not need to. The ones that were cinematic, expressive, and a little unpredictable. The 1890 is all of that now.

The pack arrives in two colorways as different from each other as scenes from the same film with opposite color grades. "Finger Waves" runs a black mesh base through the 1890's wave-cutout upper construction — the panel design borrowed from the 890v3 and scaled into the 1890's more sculpted, modern form — with black and silver fused TPU overlays carrying the glossy, chrome-everything energy of a music video set that cost too much and looked exactly right. Orange saturates the colorway's warmth with the heat of a spotlight on the right subject, the contrast laces punctuating the build with the unpredictability of a creative director who decided at the last moment that the obvious choice was wrong. "Naughty Things" answers in purple — deep, gradient, and moving from vivid to near-black across the same glossy overlays in the cooler, more mysterious register of a video shot at night with intentions that stayed offscreen. Both pairs carry new JFG logos on the heel and custom Joe Freshgoods and NB 1890 co-branded tags on the insole and tongue, the storytelling built into every surface the eye reaches and every surface it does not. ABZORB cushioning from the 2002's sole unit sits beneath both colorways unchanged — the performance foundation that keeps the 1890's hybrid DNA grounded no matter how cinematic the upper gets.

The "Naughty Things" colorway drops globally on NewBalance.com and select retailers April 30th. The "Finger Waves" remains exclusive to JFG's site. Joe Freshgoods made the goal clear: these shoes should feel like a moment, not just a product. Twelve collaborations in, he has never once missed that mark.
