In 1904, the journey toward authenticity began when Frank Mitchell and Charles Ness convened in Philadelphia to establish Mitchell & Ness Sporting Goods. Initially, their focus encompassed stringing tennis racquets, crafting bespoke golf clubs, and tailoring uniforms for local baseball and football teams in Philly.
The Mitchell & Ness insignia debuted in the NFL in 1933, marking the commencement of a 30-year partnership with the Philadelphia Eagles. Shortly thereafter, in 1938, the brand ventured into professional baseball, supplying uniforms for the Philadelphia Athletics before outfitting the Phillies a few years later.
A pivotal moment arrived in 1985 when a customer sought repairs for his game-worn 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates vest and 1949 St. Louis Browns jersey, igniting a transformative idea. Thus, the concept of crafting historically-accurate, vintage, authentic baseball jerseys and apparel was born, giving rise to Mitchell & Ness Nostalgia Co.
